Reader’s Pet Feature Coming Soon!

Reader’s Pet Feature Coming Soon!

MicrophoneGood morning Buzz Pet readers. You may have noticed that the frequency of posts from Buzz Pet HQ slowed down somewhat last week. Now as much as I wish I had been jet setting around the globe on some extravagant holiday (we can all wish can’t we?) the truth is I have been hard at work completing a new feature for the Buzz Pet website called Reader’s Pets. This new feature will allow you to create a Reader’s Pet page of your very own for your favourite pet (or pets!). Each page will include details of your pet (including photos) and will be published on the Buzz Pet website! In addition to this, each Reader’s Pet will have the opportunity to be featured on the Buzz Pet homepage for a week.

I am really excited about this new feature and will of course let you all know when it is up and running on the Buzz Pet website.

Smiling Bumble-Bee

OK folks, I realise the topic of this post is not exactly pet-related (although I would love to hear from anyone that keeps bumble-bees as pets!) but I could not resist the temptation to share this very cute article published in the Daily Mail newspaper in the UK.

Chris Cox an amateur photographer based in Cornwall was “messing around” taken photos in the backyard of his home when he took a photo of what appears to be a bumble-bee smiling! Needless to say it certainly looks like the little bee is enjoying himself!

The Crazy World of Cat Painting

The Crazy World of Cat Painting

Hmm…. I have to be honest I am not quite sure what to make of all of this.  Below is a gallery of images sent to me recently via email “showcasing” the artistic (?) work of various cat owners and their cats.  Now before you start to shout “cruelty” I am certainly not promoting this practice (although I would argue the level of any cruelty would be very low (although does embarrassing your cat count as cruelty?)).  Enjoy Buzz Pet readers, and I encourage your comments!

Dog-friendly Park Location Service

Dog-friendly Park Location Service

Australian media company Sensis have recently teamed up with local Victorian premium pet food producer 4Legs to launch a great new service on their improved Whereis website. The new service provides information on dog-friendly parks listed on their maps, allowing users of Whereis to search and view a selected region (E.g. a suburb) and identify (by way of small paw-print icons) where dog friendly parks are located including whether the park allows off-lead walking.

At first glance I believe this to be a useful addition to the tool set of the Whereis website, particularly if the user of the site is new to a region and is travelling with their four-legged friend - very handy to find a suitable park to let your dog off its’ leash. Check out the new service and let me know what you think.

Kitten Found Inside Wild Snake

Yet another report of a wild python snake dining on some one’s unfortunate pet cat. What a wild country we live in!

The Northern Territory News today reported that the McLaren family from Tiwi a northern suburb of Darwin, woke yesterday to find one of their kittens missing….. and a very fat snake close by.  After putting their other cats safely inside the house and calling the snake catcher, their worse fears were confirmed - poor Kohl the kitten had indeed been eaten by the nearby 2m python snake.

With the snake breeding season nearing, people living in Northern Australia are currently being urged to be cautious in their back yards during this time of the year.
