Pets of Buzz Pet

Meet Charlie and Milly, the resident Buzz Pet Tonkinese cats!

A lot of my inspiration and passion for the Buzz Pet website is largely driven by sharing my life with our cats, Charlie and Milly. As this is the case and I refer to them both often within my posts, I thought it was only right to introduce you to them. So please meet Charlie and Milly.

Charlie and Milly Tonkinese

Charlie

Charlie is our lovable (and rather cheeky) 4 year old male Tonkinese cat. We have had Charlie since he was 8 weeks old when we eagerly collected him from our breeder in Brisbane, Queensland. Since then, Charlie has grown to be very much part of the family.

Charlie the Tonkinese

Tonk through and through

Charlie is what I would call a typical Tonk; talkative, affectionate and always demanding your attention. I truly believe he thinks he is human and my partner and I are his parents. He is very dog-like in personality and behaviour (E.g. Charlie loves to play fetch with his mouse (and returning the mouse to your feet)).

Purring

Charlie is an instant purr machine. A little attention and the purr engine begins! This can be anything from calling his name or simply picking him up.

His love of food

Whereby many cats prefer to graze on their food over the course of the day, Charlie is the opposite. Any amount of food in front of him he will attempt to finish off. Very dog like when it comes to food.

Travel

Charlie is accustomed to travel and will often come with my partner and I down the coast for the weekend for a short stay in the holiday house. Travel in the car is also a breeze, he simply jumps in our pet carrier and sits himself down for a quick nap.

Milly

A Princess in many ways (all good of course), Milly is our 5 year old female Champagne Tonkinese cat. Milly does come from the same parents as Charlie, but a couple of litter’s earlier.

Milly the Tonkinese

Much more cat-like

Milly is much more typically “cat-like” in behaviour. Happy to be on her own, Milly will approach you only on her terms and when she feels the desire. She does not seem to have the “need” that Charlie has when it comes to her minders!

Eating

Milly also has a similar attitude towards food; she can happily leave food in her bowl if not hungry and graze on it all day.

Affectionate

Affectionate definitely yes, but again on Milly’s terms. She does love a cuddle of course, but again mainly when she is in the mood and comes up to you looking for attention.
